Address: Tin Alley, Parkville VIC 3052, Australia

University House Members and Guests are invited to a Alsace Masterclass presented by Thomas Schlumberger from Domaines Schlumberger.

Alsace wine or Alsatian wine (in French: Vin d’Alsace) (German: Weinbau in Elsass) is produced in the Alsace region in France and is primarily white wine. Because of its Germanic influence, it is the only Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée region in France to produce mostly varietal wines, typically from similar grape varieties to those used in German wine. Along with Austria and Germany, it produces some of the most noted dry Rieslings in the world as well as highly aromatic Gewürztraminer wines. Wines are produced under three different AOCs: Alsace AOC for white, rosé and red wines, Alsace Grand Cru AOC for white wines from certain classified vineyards and Crémant d’Alsace AOC for sparkling wines. Both dry and sweet white wines are produced.

Registration essential.

University House members and guests are invited to join Peter Lloyd who will present a variety of wines from his family's estate, Coriole Vineyards.

Coriole was started by the Lloyd family in the 1960s. It is a beautiful spot looking south towards many McLaren Vale vineyards, the old Willunga Range and the Fleurieu Bight. The estate has a lot of Shiraz vines, the oldest planted in 1919. They have also had great interest in finding new and exciting varieties for the Australian table, starting with the Sangiovese vineyard planted in 1985, the Fiano vineyard (2001) and the Piquepoul vineyard planted in 2010, all three varieties pioneered in Australia by Coriole.

The Lloyd family continues to manage and develop the Coriole estate with the third generation now at the helm. They are also celebrating their 50th birthday since releasing their first wine in 1969. A tasting not worth missing!
