Susannah Britt and University House, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne’s Cultural Collection Projects Program, present the Club’s first Curatorial Project:

Matter of fact: Objects from the history of the School of Physics at the University of Melbourne

The exhibition coincides with the School of Physics’ redevelopment of the Ed Muirhead Physics Museum, due to launch in November 2017.

Drawing largely upon objects from the Ed Muirhead Physics Museum, the exhibition also will include reproductions of portraits and photographs from other University of Melbourne Cultural Collections and external collections.

The exhibition aims to highlight the past and present achievements and research of the School of Physics. The chosen objects take the viewers from the beginning of the School’s establishment in 1882 right up until present day, covering research areas such as X-rays, radiation, optics, cosmic rays and dark matter.
