University House offers two wonderful locations for conferences and meetings; experience Victorian era charm at Professors’ Walk or the spectacular views on offer at the Woodward.

University House Professors’ Walk

Located on the main campus of The University of Melbourne in a charming and elegant Victorian house with expansive, equipped function, dining and event spaces, amongst beautiful gardens and court yards.

Located on the 10th floor of the Melbourne Law School in Pelham Street, Carlton, a contemporary setting with wonderful views of the city.

Private Dining

We can assist you in hosting your own tailored private lunch or dinner at University House. Our talented chefs curate menus with your private events in mind. Talk to us about dietary or other requirements and we can assist in selecting the most appropriate option for you! Whether it be a more formal occasion with a set menu and paired wines, or a casual affair over canapés, we can cater to your needs.

Professors’ Walk

The Professors’ Walk venue has private rooms available to members and the general public for meetings, conferences, cocktail parties and dining functions. Intimate dining spaces are available for 4 – 24 guests, and conference spaces are available for 15 -60 guests,

The Woodward offers a range of modern rooms with stunning views that provide a superb backdrop for meetings, conferences, breakfasts, lunches and dinners in a professional business environment.

The Conference Centre Room can seat 140 people theatre-style, with flexibility to be divided into two rooms with separate access if required. These rooms are ideal for briefing sessions, training and development programs and can be configured to meet your specific requirements. The west and south dining rooms can also be used for multi-purpose events separately or combined. All rooms have natural light with spectacular views of the city and University.

  • Refurbished in 2002 and located in the eastern wing, The Matthaei Room has a picturesque garden aspect. The room is adorned with the Ernst Matthaei Glass Collection – some 200 pieces of early and rare glass. This room caters for up to 70 guests for dinners and 100 guests for cocktails.

The Woodward Centre provides flexible, spacious function rooms perfect for events such as cocktail receptions, conferences and formal dinners.

Professors’ Walk Function Rooms

The original home of The University Club. Housed in a beautiful Victorian-era home built in 1885, University House Professors’ Walk is the sole survivor of the Victorian Professorial houses that once lined Professors’ Walk. The historic building features gardens to its east and west, and a vine wreathed brick facade.
